Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev won his initial title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with former trainer his previous coach.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his first championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a title is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, comprising in that event previously this season.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on court had led observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He recovered from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the final five points to go ahead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet saved four early opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
